Today was the big event, about 600 mountainbikers rode the 60km trail all over 
semenyih area. The best news is, aku completed the trail with all 4 checkpoints & heard from the officials aku & alwin placing below 100. Pergh! Puas hati je dengar. Crossed the finish line at 2.00pm after almost 6 hours on & off the saddle & still won myself a wildasia t-shirt masa lucky draw…ekekekek.
The trail changed a bit at all the 3 loops, 4th loop aku tak tau changed or not sebab last year tak sempat…hehehe. Less tormenting grannies & more long rolling downhills, some even have technical ones resembles the trails in kiara with roots & drops. Trails passed through mostly rubber estates, palm oil estates, durian orchards & dragon fruits plantation. 2 feet drops made at the terraces of rubber trees. Long grannies at palm oil. Overall, the trails were awesome.
Our strategy worked when we rode ahead of the crowd during the first stretch of climbing. Learned from last years experience. Too bad tak dapat saing dengan saiful & the rest sebab they got stucked with the crowds. Alwin & me crossed the finish line at 2.00pm after almost 6 hours on & off the saddle. Aku tak tau mana dapat energy but it was unbelievable, only the last loop dah mula malas. Only semangat to complete aje yang drove me all the way.
Bila aku jenguk ke luar pintu depan rumah petang ni, it pretty much reminds me of November 1989 which was spent in the district of Gua Musang, Kelantan. Yurp, those were the days bila aku dok keje panjat gunung je. Whenever ada cuti semester panjang sikit, berat Karrimor 60L aku akan mencecah 25kg & KL train station will be my nostalgic gateway to the unknowns.
Now, November in KL pun sama…hujan almost everyday. The good old monsoon is back. The last few years, the climate was not that predictable tapi tahun ni, bila November comes, rains come as well. Sky is never clear during evenings.
Back to 1992, that year a group of us attempted Mt. Rabung, gunung di Kelantan yang paling kurang orang panjat. 10 days expedition for about 30 people & 7 last days non-stop raining. Ekspedisi yang paling basah pernah dialami & semua dapat rasakan kehebatan musim tengkujuh di kawasan pendalaman pantai timur. Obviously these are where all the rains come from. Kat sini lah hujan bermula, kat sini lah air sungai mula membesar, kat sini lah mudah jumpa “ibu air”. Though pengalaman paling teruk, aku boleh ingat sampai bila2 especially bila berjumpa geng2 expedisi semula i.e. rima, cincau, totol, debab, my wife, ajai, abg din, ujang, tok lam, paktam etc.
The skies resembles exactly the same view I saw from the train at stesen keretapi Gua Musang as we leave for Kuala Lumpur that November 92.
No matter how hard the rain poured, the next morning will surely gave us a nice sky.
Akhirnya bau tanah estet kelapa sawit & baja humus anugerah lembu2 elmina dapat dihirup kembali. Tapi kali ni tak berapa ramai sebab masing2 masih sibuk dgn jemputan ke open house…raya la katakan. Aku dah tak sanggup nak mengharung trafik jem setiap weekend bersama2 org2 lain yg beraya. Acong, Aimi, Ibrahim, Alwin, abg Zul, Syam, Tun, aku & tidak ketinggalan & tertinggal ialah Apam.
Mula ride at 9am which kononnya mau cari milage la utk prepare for pcc. Turned out to be 25km aje within 3 hours sebab casual sikit since yg kayuh pun banyak mengarut, maklum la…dah lama x berjumpa.
Acong ada pongeh sikit & nampak mcm gain weight byk. Tun pun nampak mcm lutut ada ketar sikit. Saiful mcm biasa, cakap je kaki lembik tp sbnr-nya power. Yg lain memang sungguh menakjubkan…bukan Azri & Alwin yg dah sememangnya gagah sejak dulu tapi Aimi & abg Zul…double pergh aku bagi kat depa. Aimi maybe sebab berkat main tangga kot, which the latest aku dengar dok layan tangga batu caves…so maybe dia ada dapat sikit wahyu dari kerajaan langit kot. Abg Zul dah memang kaki panjat Genting, so aku pun salute gak dia lah, mesti mau teman dia satu kali nanti. Tuan tanah Brahim & Syam x payah komen la sbb dah mmg playground depa, cuma Apam aje yg dah 2 kali attempt ride dgn aku asyik keje patah balik je…so kasi anugerah nama Apam balik sama dia la.
Anyway, it was a good outing. Really enjoyed the buddies. Weather was great, trails were a bit damped & aroma baja asli sungguh mengasyikkan.
